Extra Tips:
Use Macho Brace to get double the EV points in any fight. So if you beat a Machop you will get 2 att. EVs. Pokerus helps a lot but it is very rare and has the same the effect as Macho Brace without the speed lowering. It can be permanatly kept if a Pokemon infected is kept in the PC.
There are also Power Items, cut the Pokemon’s speed but only when it is holding it but adds 4 additional EVs in the stat it corresponds to, here is the list:
You can get them at the battle tower exchange corner for 16 BP each.
Power Anklet= 4 Extra Speed EVs (In every battle)
Power Belt= 4 Extra Defense EVs (In every battle)
Power Band= 4 Extra Sp. Defense EVs (In every battle)
Power Bracer= 4 Extra Attack EVs (In every battle)
Power Weight= 4 Extra HP EVs (In every battle)
Power Lens= 4 Extra Sp. Attack EV’s (In every battle)
Natures:
Natures give a 10% Boost in one stat while decreases another one by 10%. About 4 natures raise every stat, but choose depending on the pokemon. Let’s just take Heracross, give him an adamant nature because it raises its dire attack stat, decreasing its not needed sp. attack stat. Some natures are neutral, meaning they raise no stat and decrease no stat.
Here is a list of all the natures and what stat they raise and decrease: http://www.psypokes.com/lab/natures.php
IVs:
IVs, or individual values, like EVs, influence a lot on where a Pokemon’s strength goes. But unlike EVs, IVs cannot be changed. Every Pokemon has IVs, and they are most of the time, very different from one another. IVs are another way to class how strong a Pokemon is, they range from 0 to 31, 0 being the smallest. If you want to breed for the perfect Ninjask, you would breed for a Jolly one with 31 IVs in speed. But if they are random, how can I possibly find out what they are? Here is a link to an IV calculator:
http://www.serebii.net/games/iv-calcdp.shtml
Another thing that influences IVs are D/P specials: characteristics. Characteristics, like natures, influence how fast a stat grows. Like natures there are many different characteristic for each stat. If you get a characteristic that makes sp. attack better, the chances for you to get a higher sp. attack IV. Here is a link to chart for the characteristics:
http://mountmoon.net/showthread.php?tid=4469
Notice how they say numbers on the side of every characteristic? Those are the IV number you could get for that stat if you get that characteristic. One of these for each stat has the possibility of getting a 31, other lower. Some people would aim to get the characteristic in which you would get 31 in the Pokemon’s stat. So for that Ninjask you would breed to get a Jolly Alert to sounds one so you can get 31 IVs in speed.
I hope you liked my EV guide and I hope it will be useful to all people.
